Around 600 people came to pick, press and learn at the Millbrook community orchard at the weekend, leaving with juice, saplings and the beginnings of a new skill.
The fences are down at Kestrel Park, where a two-year restoration has cleared decades of silt from the boating lake, added 600 trees and given the city's largest green space a new play area and café.
Forecasters expect a lively weekend, with squally showers and gusts of up to 65 mph on exposed parts of the coast, while the Asher Valley and Greyling Hills should see longer dry spells.
